The TreeMediation^®  program is the application of agronomic processes to environmental remediation problems of soil and water. Since many of today's environmental contaminants are comparable to chemicals long studied in the agricultural sciences, the TreeMediation system  has a wide variety of potential applications.

Trees for Treating Contaminants
The TreeMediation system pumps ground water and treats many soil solution contaminants (see diagram below). Tree roots spread aggressively through the soil to the aquifer - effectively seeking out contaminants that are then adsorbed into the plant and accumulated or metabolized (degraded).

Further, the root system acts as host for microbial populations and transports them to the contaminants. The contaminants can then be degraded by the microbes.
